BAe Woodford Current Situation

Aircraft production at the British Aerospace Systems Woodford site has been declining for several years and it has been accelerated by the Government’s recent spending reviews. The site was finally closed in March 2011 and BAe Systems has been working closely with Stockport and Cheshire East Councils to plan the future of the site. Both Councils are in the process of producing a Special Planning Document (SPD) for the future redevelopment of the site.

BAe Woodford Future Plans

Redevelopment of the BAe Woodford land is likely to extend over the next 10 to 15 years, so it will be important for the development plans to be flexible to respond to future conditions. It is also clear that because of its size and location, its future development will have a significant impact and potential benefits for the surrounding area and in particular Adlington Business Park. The current development plans include options for new open space, commercial, residential and leisure facilities.
